Summer is here and if you’re bored with shop bought soft drinks, here’s an idea: Why don’t you get creative in the kitchen and make some super cute pink summer drinks that you can serve at family lunches, BBQ parties and garden soirees?

We’ve put together three summer drinks recipes that are as delicious as they are family friendly. And so easy to make!

Home Made Pink Lemonade (serves 6)

Pink raspberry lemonade

Ingredients:

8 lemons, plus extra slices to serve
200g caster sugar, plus extra to taste
140g raspberries, plus extra to serve
Ice cubes for serving

Pare the lemon zest with a peeler, removing any white pith that may be stuck to the zest strips, and set aside. In a saucepan, bring 1.2 litres of water to the boil and stir in the lemon zest, sugar, raspberries and the juice of the lemons. Let the mixture cool, then sieve well, pressing through the juice with the back of a spoon. Add extra sugar to taste, then chill in a large jug in the fridge.

To serve your freshly made still, cloudy pink lemonade, add an extra slice of lemon and plenty of ice cubes. For the adults, why not pour over a measure of gin? Chin chin!

Watermelon Slush Puppy (serves 6)

Frozen tropical cocktail

Ingredients:

500g watermelon (cubed, deseeded)
15 ice cubes
120ml freshly squeezed lime juice
40g caster sugar
Pinch of salt

Place the watermelon and ice cubes into a blender, then add the lime juice, sugar and salt. Blend until smooth. The more ice cubes you add, the slushier the result will be. Alternatively, you could freeze the cubed watermelon before blending but if you choose this route, you’ll have to add some more liquid to the blender – ginger ale works well. Serve in pretty glasses with a straw. For a grown up kick, pour your slushy over a measure of vodka – cheers!

Pink Fruit Smoothie (serves 6)

Strawberry Banana Sundae

Ingredients:

2-3 very ripe bananas (halved)
300g strawberries (hulled)
500ml orange juice
200g plain yogurt
300ml cold water, plus extra ice cubes
caster sugar to taste

Place all the ingredients into a liquidiser and blitz until smooth, then serve in individual glasses and garnish with a slice of strawberry or a sprig of mint. For grown-ups, add a shot of Bacardi to each glass for a taste of paradise!
