Whether you have the family over for a Sunday Roast or are celebrating a special birthday with friends, it’s nice to start off with a few celebratory drinks. Here are 3 recipes that everyone can make with a few simple ingredients that you probably have in your fridge or kitchen cupboard already. And the best bit? These ‘mocktails’ are alcohol free, so everyone can join in. To your health!

Kids Pimms

(serves 4)

Ingredients:

1 litre of lemonade
15 strawberries
1/8 of a cucumber
sprigs of fresh mint

Puree 10 strawberries, then strain into a glass jug to remove the pips. Slowly pour in the lemonade and stir. Cut the remaining strawberries into quarters and chop the cucumber, then add them to the jug along with the mint. Serve in posh glasses over ice.

Peanut Butter & Banana Smoothie

(serves 4)

Ingredients:

2 ripe bananas, cut into chunks
1 litre of milk
3 tbsp smooth peanut butter
2 tbsp honey
2 handfuls of ice cubes

Put all ingredients into a blender and blitz for 30 seconds until smooth, then pour into tumblers and serve immediately.

Sunrise Surprise Mocktail

(serves 1)

Ingredients:

180 ml Sprite or 7 Up
60 ml orange juice
2 tbsp grenadine
1 cocktail cherry

Take a martini glasses and pour in the Sprite and orange juice. Then add the grenadine so that it sinks to the bottom of the glass and creates a pretty layer. Decorate with a cherry on top and a cocktail umbrella if you have one, and serve to aspiring or abstinent grown-ups.
