One of the hot spots for germs to grow unknowingly is the sink. We wash things up in the sink but we don’t realise how much dirt the sink retains. Often we turn the tap on with dirty hands to clean our hands before cooking, only to turn the dirty tap off again.

To disinfect your kitchen sink without using harsh cleaning agents, simply wet the entire surface area of the sink and then sprinkle baking soda over the sink so that it has a nice layer over it.

Don’t forget to sprinkle the taps as well! Then wait a few minutes and take a dry sponge or a toothbrush and scrub in small circles to remove any layers of dirt or grime.

Rinse the baking soda off by wiping the entire sink with white vinegar and then give it a wash with hot water. Voila! Sparkling clean sink! Cleaning your sink regularly will reduce the risk of food poisoning and other illnesses caught by coming in contact with raw food, but try not to go overboard as a little bacteria helps to keep your immune system in check!
